By and large, the language is the same.

Of the two types of English, British Engliish is thought to be the more traditional or formal of the two, because it is historically older. However, American English has been dominant in previous years because of the business world. Both forms are equally acceptable and the student will find it rewarding to learn English in it’s country of origin where early historical events and points of interest are placed in context.
